I grew up in love with blue summer skies, the slanting evening light and the transformed world after the sun went down.
Drawing inspiration from my Uncle, a successful commercial artist, I began shooting outdoors, at night trying to capture the mystery and beauty of the night-time world. Countless rolls of film taken at bonfires and parking lots, freeways and bar-bands, yearbooks and weddings began to add up; I was finally capturing what captured me.
Beauty surrounds us and inspiration is had from the most mundane of sources. I have found my first instinct to be my strongest and I still shoot primarily from the dark. Subjects are awash in the light of their own life, the world around them is separate and yet, still part of them. I seek to show beauty, to illustrate each of us, the world we inhabit, and the common ties of our lives.
